NYC Weather: Here's When Snow Will Slam NYC
About an inch is expected to fall by Thursday evening.

NEW YORK — Time to get those boots out. About an inch of snow will be among the wintry mix expected to set up a slippery Thursday evening commute in New York City, officials say.
Snow could hit as early as 10 a.m. but will be most likely to fall starting around 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service's forecast. It will be accompanied by sleet, with rain joining the mix starting in the late afternoon, the forecast shows.
The snow should be done after 7 p.m., but the rain will continue as the temperature rises into the low 40s, according to the weather service.

"Take it slowly during the evening commute home and allow for extra travel time," Emergency Management Commissioner Joseph Esposito said in a statement. "The snow and rain can cause slippery road conditions during the evening rush."
The storm will be even nastier upstate, with as many as nine inches of snow forecast in some regions, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office said.
The snow will strike on a frigid Thursday with a high temperature near 36 degrees and wind chill values as cold as 25 degrees, the weather service says.
The rain should clear out by late Friday morning, making way for a sunny and warmer weekend before another chance of snow looms on Monday, according to the weather service.
