NEW YORK CITY, NY — Showers and possible thunderstorms looks poised to affect the weekend despite Friday staying relatively dry and sunny, forecasters said.

Friday will reach a high of 78 degrees across the city during the day before dropping to 65 degrees at night.

On Saturday, rain showers are expected to hit the area after 2 p.m. with temperatures reaching 81 degrees, forecasters say.

Showers are likely with possible thunderstorms before noon, according to forecasts.

They could continue to linger after noon, with showers expected to return before 9 p.m.

Sunny skies will return to the area on Monday, with a high of 77 degrees. Tuesday will be a near identical day, with sunny skies and temperatures reaching 78 degrees.
