NEW YORK CITY — The next heat wave is expected to hit the New York City area this week, according to forecasts.

A heat advisory will be in effect for New York City from noon on Monday until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Temperatures will reach a high of 89 degrees, but with humidity it will feel like the mid-90s outside, forecasters said.

Tuesday will be just as hot, with temperatures reaching 92 degrees. Rain showers could be possible later in the day, with a chance of precipitation at 20 percent, according to forecasts.

Wednesday is expected to see temperatures in the 90s again, with a high of 91 degrees. Despite being humid throughout the day, there will be a possible thunderstorm in the afternoon. There is a 50 percent chance of rain, per the latest forecasts.

Thursday and Friday will continue the heat wave trend, with temperatures reaching the mid 80s and low 90s, according to forecasts.

Thursday could also be a wet one, with scattered thunderstorms and downpours possible.

Friday is lined up to be similar, with a 65 percent chance of precipitation.
