NEW YORK CITY — So long, smoke. Hello, hail.

New York City faces a risk of severe storms Monday that could pummel the five boroughs with damaging winds and hail, according to a hazardous weather outlook from the National Weather Service.

The city is also under a rip current statement until 9 p.m. that warns swimmers to avoid the water.
