NYC Weather: Storms And Extreme Heat On Way
Temperatures could feel like 100 degrees Thursday.

MANHATTAN, NY — New York City is prepping for several days of extreme weather with both thunderstorms and sweltering temperatures, according to forecasts.
A chance of thunderstorms and extreme winds starts on Wednesday night and will stick around through Friday. Storms are looking more likely during the end of the week, and the National Weather Service has already issued a hazardous weather outlook for New York City in advance of the predicted storms.
"There is the potential for widespread showers and thunderstorms late Thursday into Friday," the National Weather Service said in the notice. "Flash flooding is possible."

Don't count on the likely showers to cool things off, though. The National Weather Services predicts a high of 93 degrees on Thursday, but the heat index will make it feel like 99 degrees. According to the agency, the "heat index" is what temperatures feel like to the actual human body, so Thursday's temps will likely feel quite toasty and humid. The National Weather Service has also issued a heat advisory for Thursday, cautioning extreme heat until 6 p.m. on Thursday.
