NYC Weather: Storms To Hit With Up To Inch Of Rain

NEW YORK – April showers are about to turn into a deluge Friday as forecasters predict a storm which could bring with it an inch of rain.

The bad weather is expected to start before 2 p.m., though the heavier rain will come with a thunderstorm after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

There's a chance of thunderstorms until 10 p.m., with showers continuing through the night. The rain is followed by a cooling of temperatures, with the mercury barely getting out of the 50s this weekend.

But New York City appears to be avoiding the worst of the weather. Parts of New Jersey are being warned to expect 60 mph winds, hail and even tornadoes.

Rain likely before 2pm, then showers likely between 2pm and 4pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. High near 62. East wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
