NYC Weather: Tornado Possible Monday As Storm Front Looms
Expect a stormy, rainy and windy start to the week.
NEW YORK CITY — A tornado could touch down in New York City as a storm system blows through Monday, forecasters warn.
The chance of a tornado comes nearly two weeks after a "microburst" — a violent downdraft from a thunderstorm — struck Bensonhurst with winds between 60 mph and 70 mph, according to the National Weather Service's New York office.
New York City faces a mishmash of severe weather threats Monday, from strong thunderstorms to flash flooding from a potential 3 inches of rain to damaging wind gusts, forecasters said.

The storm risk stems from a cold front that forecasters expect to reach the Mid-Atlantic states late Monday and early Tuesday.
A chance of heavy rain is expected into early Tuesday, which carries a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the forecast.
From there, skies this week will be mostly sunny, the forecast states.
