NYC Weekend Weather: Labor Day Rain Could Wash Out Summer's Last Gasp

NEW YORK CITY — Summer's unofficial end on Labor Day could be a rainy washout in New York City, forecasters say.

A 60 percent chance of rain is predicted for the holiday on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

"A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm," the forecast states.

But New Yorkers seeking their last bit of summer fun shouldn't fret — Saturday is expected to be partly sunny, with a high near 79 degrees, according to the forecast.

Sunday also will have sunny skies and a high near 82 degrees, although rain enters the forecast that day.

"A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5pm," Sunday's forecast states.
