Only These 2 Cities Are More Fun Than NYC, Study Says

The Big Apple ranked third on a list of the nation's "most fun" cities.

NEW YORK — Being the nation's biggest city apparently doesn't make New York the most fun. The Big Apple placed third on WalletHub's recent ranking of the "most fun" cities in the nation, meaning only two places offer a better time than the five boroughs.

The personal finance website evaluated more than 180 U.S. cities on 65 indicators of fun-ness, from the number of bowling alleys per capita to the average price of beer.

New York City is the top destination for entertainment and recreation, tying for the most restaurants and park playgrounds per capita, WalletHub found. The city also took the No. 2 spot for nightlife and parties, ranking first overall for the most accessible bars.

But the city that never sleeps is also the most expensive. New York ranked dead last in the study's costs category with the nation's highest average beer price and the fourth-highest movie costs, according to WalletHub.

New Yorkers looking for a better time elsewhere should head west to Las Vegas, which WalletHub dubbed the nation's most fun city. The nightlife there is top-notch, according to the study — the Nevada city has the second-most accessible bars and tied for the most dance clubs per capita.
