PHOTOS: Employees Barricade Door with Furniture Amid Midtown Shooting

NEW YORK CITY — Photos circulating on social media shows Blackstone employees using chairs and couches to barricade their office doors in the midst of a fatal shooting at a Midtown Manhattan building on Monday that left an NYPD officer and three other people dead.

The viral photos posted to X show the aftermath after employees staked couches, office chairs and other furniture to reinforce a barricade against office doors.

"This is how the employees in the Blackstone building barricading themselves inside their offices while the shooter was active," a user on X wrote.

Another post on X shows another office behind barricaded with chairs, couches and even parts of from employees desks.

New Details Emerge Into Midtown Shooting

The incident happened at 345 Park Ave. around 6:40 p.m., Patch previously reported.

The shooter, identified Shane Tamura, 27, of Las Vegas, walked into the building carrying an AR-style weapon and made his way to the 33rd floor, where he opened fire, according to reports.

NYPD Officer Didarul Islam was killed in the lobby of the building. He had been working security detail when the incident occurred.

At least six civilians were injured in the shooting. The extent of their injuries are not known at this time.

The suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he killed three other people in the building.
