Possible Baby Leg Found In NYC Sewage Plant: Reports, Police

Police are investigating the discovery of "possible human remains" in a Bronx facility Wednesday, authorities said.

NEW YORK CITY — What may be a newborn baby's leg was found inside a Bronx waste water treatment plant Wednesday, according to officials and reports.

"Possible human remains" were found at the Hunts Point facility at 1270 Ryawa Ave. about 8:30 a.m., NYPD officials confirmed.

They didn't confirm other details beyond that the city's medical examiner is investigating whether the potential remains are human.

But police sources told the New York Post a worker spotted, on a sewage conveyor belt, what looked like an infant's remains.

The Daily News reported those remains appeared a human leg cut off at the knee with a foot attached.

Police identified the address as the Hunts Point Water Treatment Control Plant but the Daily News reported the incident happened in a recycling facility.

A DEP spokesperson referred Patch's request for clarification to the NYPD.
