QUEENS, NY — A Queens man who proclaimed himself the "Republican messiah" and is running for George Santos' vacant seat has been convicted for his role in the Jan. 6 insurrection, prosecutors said.

Federal jurors found Philip Sean Grillo, 49, guilty of obstruction of an official proceeding, among other charges, in connection to the U.S. Capitol breach.

Grillo, during his trial, claimed that he had "no idea" Congress met inside the Capitol building — a curious contention outlined by prosecutors given he's running for U.S. House.

And his assertion of ignorance contrasts with video from the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot in which he clearly showed he knew the building was important.

"I'm here to stop the steal," he said, according to documents released by federal prosecutors. "It's our F— House!"

Grillo also recorded videos of himself going further inside the Capitol and smoking marijuana, authorities said.

"We f— did it!" he said in one video, according to federal documents. "We got to the Capitol building. We f—did it! We f— did it, baby! We f— did it, you understand? We stormed the Capitol. We shut it down! We did it! We shut the mother..!."

The conviction is only the latest for a New York City dweller who took part in the Capitol assault in an attempt to effectively steal the 2020 election for former President Donald Trump.

Other New Yorkers who apparently believed Trump's myriad falsehoods about the presidential election enough to commit crimes were a tambourine-shaking former NYPD cop, the fur-clad son of a judge and another one-time NYPD officer who received one of the longest sentences for a Capitol rioter.

Grillo had served as a Republican district leader in Queens. He's currently running for the District 3 congressional seat once held by disgraced former Rep. George Santos.

His sentencing date has yet to be decided.
