NEW YORK, NY — The rapper Tekashi69 was arrested Wednesday in New York City in connection with an assault he allegedly committed in Texas, according to news reports. The "Gummo" artist, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was collared at John F. Kennedy Airport after returning from a European tour, TMZ reported.
Hernandez, also known by the stage name 6ix9ine, was arrested on a warrant stemming from a Jan. 6 incident at a Houston shopping mall in which he allegedly choked a teenager, ABC affiliate KTRK reported.
The victim, who had pulled out his camera to record Hernandez, told investigators that rapper told him to delete the video and that bodyguards "surrounded him in a intimidating way," according to KTRK.
