HOWARD BEACH, QUEENS — A retired NYPD officer shot an innocent bystander during a fight at a Queens restaurant Tuesday night, according to news reports.
The 52-year-old retired cop was arguing with another man on the outdoor patio at Franasia, an Asian bistro in Howard Beach, when the man swung a chair at him, the New York Post reported.
The ex-cop pulled out a gun and fired, but ended up striking a 31-year-old diner in the back, according to the New York Daily News.

The shooting victim went to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition, the Daily News reported.
Police took both the retired officer and the man he was fighting into custody for questioning, news reports say.
