NEW YORK, NY — The whole New York City area is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS says "isolated thunderstorms ahead of an approaching cold front will be capable of producing strong to damaging winds late this afternoon into early evening." All five boroughs are under the threat.
The city also set a high weather mark for Sept. 14 at LaGuardia Airport, as the temperature reached 92 degrees earlier this afternoon. Weather will be much cooler tomorrow, in the upper 70s for a high, once the front comes through this evening.
