NEW YORK CITY — A man has been indicted on charges after shoving an off-duty police officer onto the subway tracks at a Manhattan station back in September.
Aaron Walker, 28, has been charged with attempted murder, assault, attempted assault, reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct, prosecutors said.
The incident happened on the 3rd Ave. station in the East Village around 7:35 p.m. on Sept. 23.

Walker is accused of approaching the 24-year-old off-duty NYPD officer and punching him in the head. As the man turned around, Walker grabbed him by his shirt and threw him onto the southbound L train tracks.
With the help of a Good Samaritan, the officer made it off the tracks before the train entered the station, prosecutors said.

"As alleged, Aaron Walker assaulted a complete stranger and shoved him onto the subway tracks in a callous and frightening attack,” District Attorney Alvin Bragg said.
The officer was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries to his head, neck and arm.
The attack may have stemmed from an argument between the two men, which quickly escalated into a fight.
Police stopped and arrested Walker as he attempted to board a northbound L train a short time later after the incident.
“I am thankful this off-duty officer was returned to safety with the help of a Good Samaritan. All New Yorkers deserve to be safe in our subway system, and those who commit this type of horrific violence will be prosecuted," Bragg added.
