Swimmer Vanishes During Storm At NYC Beach, Police Say
The search for a missing swimmer continued over the weekend along the shores of Rockaway Beach in Queens.

NEW YORK CITY — A young man who vanished while swimming off the eastern edge of Rockaway Beach in Queens on Friday evening remains missing, police said.
The 22-year-old was last seen just after 6 p.m. near Beach 20th Street and Seagirt Avenue in Far Rockaway, according to police. He disappeared as thunderstorms moved through the area, and his identity has not yet been released.
Officials say search and rescue teams have been canvassing the beach since Friday, but as of Sunday evening, there has been no sign of the missing swimmer.

Footage posted to the Citizen app over the weekend showed police and fire department crews using boats and divers to search the waters off the beach.
