Prosecutors identified the suspect as Jayden Clarke, who is facing attempted murder, attempted assault, assault and criminal possession of a weapon charges.

According to prosecutors, Clarke was involved in an argument with another person before the shooting.

Clarke left the restaurant but stayed outside nearby. A 19-year-old man then exited the restaurant and approached the 17-year-old.

Clarke then pulled out a gun and fired three shots. One struck the 19-year-old man, another struck a 65-year-old man in the knee as she stood on the sidewalk, and a third bullet grazed an 18-year-old woman in the neck who was sitting in a passenger vehicle.

“As alleged, Jayden Clarke callously fired multiple gunshots in the middle of Time Square – an area with considerable foot traffic and tourist activity,” District Attorney Alvin Bragg said. “As we further allege, Clarke’s actions resulted in significant injuries to three victims, including an older man and a teenage girl, who were each enjoying the night with their families as they visited New York City. Thankfully the injuries were nonfatal, and I wish each victim a full and speedy recovery.”

Clarke fled the scene, running westbound on West 44th Street toward Eighth Avenue, where he was intercepted by a uniformed patrol officer and arrested.

An investigation remains ongoing.
