Teen Surrenders To Cops In Alleged Murder Of Man At NYC Park

The suspect was one of two men police were searching for in connection with the deadly shooting.

NEW YORK CITY — A second suspect wanted in the killing of a man in a New York City park last month has turned himself in to police.

Luis Alberto Lopez Castillo, 19, surrendered to police on Monday. He and Axel Martinez, 20, are accused of trying to rob Ronell Marte, 26, at gunpoint before the encounter turned deadly on Sept. 3.

According to police, Martinez shot Marte in the chest. The 26-year-old was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Martinez was arrested by police on Sept. 18.

Martinez and Castillo are facing murder, manslaughter, robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon charges.
