NEW YORK — Maybe you've dreamed about slurping up pasta at a David Chang restaurant or getting Ceasar dressing all over your formal wear at the 21 Club, but balked at the dent it would put in your wallet. That excuse is about to evaporate with the July 22 start of New York City's summer Restaurant Week.

Reservations open Tuesday for the semi-annual event, in which more than 300 restaurants will offer prix fixe menus with deeply discounted prices. Two-course lunches go for $26 per person and three-course dinners run $42.

That means New Yorkers won't have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a high-end meal at a big-name eatery. But be sure to lock in a table early, and don't procrastinate: The specials only last until Aug. 16.

Here are five of the city's priciest eateries where Big Apple eaters can get a good Restaurant Week deal. Snag a reservation this week at OpenTable.

JoJo
160 East 64th St., Upper East Side
Maine lobster roasted in the shell with herb butter, French fries and lemon costs $48 at JoJo. But Restaurant Week will let New Yorkers grab lunch for just $26 at Jean-Georges Vongerichten's first ever eatery.

The Leopard at Des Artistes
1 W. 67th St., Upper West Side
This revamp of a New York institution charges $118 for its grilled dry-aged ribeye served with rosemary french fries, which serves two. Go for the murals of the happy wood nymph ladies. Stay for the discount — the Restaurant Week menu features changing selections from the Amalfi Coast, Silcily and Sardegna.

Morimoto
88 10th Ave., Meatpacking District
You have to shell out a minimum $120 for one of their Wagyu steaks. But a sample of the renowned Japanese beef goes for just $10 on the Restaurant Week menu.

Momofuku Nishi
232 Eighth Ave., Chelsea
David Chang and chef Joshua Pinsky's James Beard Award winner will have a lunchtime mix of seafood and Italian dishes. Their New York cut sirloin on the bone runs $57 and you'll still need to shell out $14 for that side of creamed spinach. But the gem lettuce appetizer on the Restaurant Week menu is a steal — it regularly runs $16 on its own.

21 Club
21 W. 52nd St., Midtown
Kaviari Osciètre Prestige Caviar costs $312.00 for a 1.7-ounce serving at the illustrious former speakeasy off Fifth Avenue. But make a trip during Restaurant Week for a reasonably priced Ceasar salad, lamb bolognese or coq au vin. Grab the midnight chocolate cake for dessert with dinner, or add it to your lunch for $8. Be aware of the dress code — jackets are required for men in all parts of the restaurant except the lounge, and jeans and sneakers are not allowed.
