Rocks In Trader Joe's Cookies Spur Recall: What NYC Needs To Know
Trader Joe's recall message contained some good advice: "Do not eat them."
NEW YORK CITY — These Trader Joe's cookies rock — by which we mean, they could contain actual rocks.
A July 21 recall notice from the New York-beloved grocer warns customers that two types of cookie — Trader Joe's Almond Windmill Cookies and Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies — may contain rocks.
The cookies' supplier alerted Trader Joe's about the rocky problem, which prompted the recall, according to the notice.

"If you purchased or received any donations of Almond Windmill Cookies and/or Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies, please do not eat them," the recall notice states. "We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund."
Here are the "sell by" dates and SKU numbers of the affected cookies:

Trader Joe's workers have also removed any cookies potentially filled with rocks in addition to almonds and dark chocolate chunks from shelves and destroyed them, the notice states.
For many New Yorkers, this likely will be the worst Trader Joe's news since its Union Square wine shop closed — a step that workers at the store argued was to stop their unionization effort.
