When it concluded at about 5:50 p.m., the protest had grown to about 7,000 demonstrators, officials said.

Throughout the day, there were four arrests and no other incidents, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch.

Monday’s protests were organized in part by the Palestinian-led community organization Within Our Lifetime, which outlined why it called for the demonstration in a thread on social media site X.

The protests follow a vigil in Columbus Circle on Sunday, where thousands of New Yorkers mourned six Israeli hostages who were killed in Gaza over the weekend.
