NEW YORK, NY — The 78th annual Tony Awards was the hottest ticket in town Sunday as it made its way back home to Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Taking home the top honor of the night for best new musical was "Maybe Happy Ending," a rom-com about androids starring "Glee's" Darren Criss, who also took home the trophy for best actor in a musical while Kara Young made history as the first Black person to win two Tonys consecutively for “Purpose,” which won best new play as well. "Maybe Happy Ending" took home a leading six Tonys, more than any other show this season.
Hosted by Cynthia Erivo, the Tonys saw a huge amount all star Hollywood talent, including George Clooney, Ben Stiller, Denzel Washington and Sarah Snook who took home the gold for best performance by an actress in a leading role in a play for "The Picture of Dorian Gray."
