3 Subway Lines To Have Service Changes Later This Month: See Where

The service suspensions will begin Friday at 11:30 p.m. and end 5 a.m. Monday on two consecutive weekends.

NEW YORK CITY — Subway service will be significantly disrupted on the 4, 5, and 6 trains for two consecutive weekends this month so the MTA can replace tracks along the Lexington Avenue line.

Service will be suspended south of Grand Central-42 St during the weekends of Aug. 15-18 and Aug. 22-25. Crews will replace the concrete under switches north of 14 Street, which will renew the infrastructure to keep it in a state of good repair and continue to provide reliable service for 1.1 million daily riders.

During the closures, 4 trains will not run between Grand Central-42 St and Crown Hts-Utica Av or New Lots Av. The 4 will instead run local between Woodlawn in the Bronx and Grand Central-42 St.

5 trains will not run between E. 180 St and Bowling Green and will run only north of E 180 St to and from Eastchester-Dyre Av.

6 trains will not run between Grand Central-42 St and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. But will run local between Pelham Bay Park and Grand Central-42 St.

Service Alternatives In Manhattan

The MTA will activate special weekend W line service that will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

In addition, the MTA will run the 42 St Shuttle all weekend, including the overnight hours, when it is typically not in service.

For service in Manhattan between Grand Central-42 St to Bowling Green, use nearby N, Q, R, W, 2 and 3 stations. Transfer between 4, 6 and N, R, W trains at Lexington Av-59 St.

Transfer between Grand Central-42 St 4,6 trains and Times Sq-42 St. N, Q, R, W, 2 and 3 trains using the 7 or 42 St Shuttle.

Brooklyn

In Brooklyn, customers are encouraged to consider the 2, 3 trains for service between Borough Hall and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College, or the 3 train for service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av. 3 trains will run to and from New Lots Av all weekend, including the overnight hours, when they typically do not operate.
