Tremors Felt In NYC After Earthquake Rattles NJ For 2nd Time In 4 Days

NEW YORK CITY — Tremors have been reportedly felt in parts of New York City after an earthquake shook northern New Jersey for the second time in four days, the USGS confirmed Tuesday.

The quake registered 2.7 on the Richter scale and was centered in Hillsdale, in Bergen County, the government agency said.

The city emergency management in a post on X said the agency is monitoring for impacts and coordinating with their partners.

In addition, they cautioned for possible aftershocks which may follow minutes, hours, or even days after the initial quake.

"New York, was that another earthquake?," a woman posted to X on Tuesday.

"Did you just feel that?!?! Earthquake in NY?," another user posted.

On Saturday night, The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed an earthquake in New Jersey, Patch previously reported.

The 3.0 quake was centered at Hasbrouck Heights, in Bergen County, the USGS said, putting the time at 10:18 p.m.

Residents of Jersey City, Bergen, Morris, Essex counties and New York City took to social media on Saturday night to report they felt shaking.
