The Vessel Reopens At Hudson Yards With Improved Safety Features
Earlier this year, officials announced plans to reopen The Vessel following the implementation of enhanced safety features.
NEW YORK CITY — The Vessel in Hudson Yards will once again be open to the public beginning on Monday with improved safety measures after a three-year-long hiatus, officials said.
Opening in 2019, the 150-foot structure became an instant tourist attraction but closed after four people took their lives in 2021, according to Hudson Yards developer Related Companies.
Earlier this year, officials announced plans to reopen the Vessel following the implementation of enhanced safety features.

The structure's first two levels will be fully open, higher levels except the top floor will have steel mesh screens. All floors with the protective screens will be open to the public, according to officials.
"Not a day goes by that we don't have visitors walking up to our staff asking where they can buy tickets and when it will reopen," Related CEO Jeff T. Blau said in a statement, "that interest hasn't diminished during the time we've been closed, and we're excited to welcome guests from all around the world back to Vessel with additional safety measures in place."

The Vessel was designed by Thomas Heatherwick and fabricated in Venice at a cost of over $200 million.
Admission to the Vessel is $10. New York City residents can get in for free on Thursday with proof of residency.
