What's Eric Adams Reading? A Book By 'The Fittest (Real) Man'
The meditating mayor gave some very on-brand book picks before Chancellor David Banks' "State Of Our Schools" address Wednesday.
NEW YORK CITY — A self-help book by "The Fittest (Real) Man in America" is currently on Mayor Eric Adams' reading list.
Oh, and so is a book that may or may not be about breathing.
Those two very on-brand book picks from the meditating, vegan and self-proclaimed reincarnated ancient Sumerian mayor were offered Wednesday to a packed Brooklyn high school auditorium waiting to hear Chancellor David Banks' "State Of Our Schools" address.

Before Banks launched into his speech that touted a new approach to teaching kids how to read, he asked Adams what he's reading.
"I like to do two books at one time," Adams said.

Adams then offered that he's rereading a book called "Breathe."
Unfortunately for would-be members of the Eric Adams book club, "Breathe" is a rather common title.
Patch tried to pin down exactly what book Adams meant by asking City Hall officials, but received no response. But it seems there's a better than fair chance the book is about breathing, given Adams' penchant for meditation and breathing exercises, which are now part of life in the city's schools.
If that's the case, he could have been referring to "Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art," by James Nestor. The bestselling book does comes "highly recommended" by Wim Hof, a Dutch motivational speaker and ice-bath enthusiast whom Adams jokingly called his "idol."
More certain was Adams' second pick, which is"Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds," by David Goggins.
Goggins is a former Navy SEAL, Army Ranger and endurance athlete who is frequently touted in promotional materials as being named "The Fittest (Real) Man in America" by Outside Magazine. (Patch couldn't verify that title beyond a 2011 video from Outside calling Goggins one of the "Fittest (Real) Athletes.")
Adams isn't the only fan of Goggins.
Controversial podcaster Joe Rogan is blurbed on the book's Amazon review page.
"David Goggins lives out every goal, every dream no matter what. PERIOD," Rogan's blurb states. "He's unstoppable."
