What's Open, Closed On Fourth Of July 2019 In NYC

School's out and the trains will run like it's Saturday. Here's what you need to know for Independence Day in the Big Apple.

NEW YORK — Most New Yorkers will likely get a breather just before the weekend thanks to the Independence Day holiday on Thursday. At least 90 percent of employers close their offices for the Fourth of July, according to a 2016 Society for Human Resource Management survey.

That means you may have to adjust your routine if you're not getting out of the city for a long weekend. But not everyone will have a day off — the MTA will run extra trains Tuesday and Wednesday, and thousands of cops will likely patrol the massive fireworks show over the East River.

Here's what will be open and closed as New Yorkers celebrate the nation's 243rd birthday.
