Woman Stabbed Multiples Times Inside NYC Subway Station: Police

NEW YORK CITY — A 23-year-old woman was stabbed inside a New York City subway station this past Sunday, police said.

The incident happened at the Jamaica-Van Wyck Station around 8:30 p.m. Sunday in what began as an apparent attempted robbery, police said.

A man —identified as Randol Contreras, 24 — asked the victim for money and when she refused, he stabbed her multiple times, police said.

Contreras is facing attempted robbery, assault and criminal possession of a weapon charges, among others, police said.

The 23-year-old woman was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.
