42-Year-Old Killed When Kia, Dump Truck Crash On Highway

CLARKSTOWN, NY — A driver lost his life in a crash involving a dump truck on Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday, around 9:20 a.m., the Clarkstown Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles near the intersection of Route 303 and Hemlock Drive, in Congers.
Officers arriving on the scene found a Peterbilt dump truck blocking both lanes of the highway.

A white Kia Soul was off the roadway in a grassy area, facing south. The car had substantial damage, according to police.
Officers initiated life-saving medical aid on the driver, which was continued by Congers-Valley Cottage Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics. The driver of the Kia, a 42-year-old man from New Jersey, was declared dead at Nyack Montefiore Hospital.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification, police said.
No other injuries were reported, and the driver of the truck remained on the scene, according to officials.

The Clarkstown Police Department's Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has additional information is asked to contact the Clarkstown Police Detective Bureau at 845-639-5800.
