8 Arrested in DWI Checkpoint

Clarkstown police team up with Sheriff's Department at Route 59 road block.

A police checkpoint set up to catch suspected drunken drivers in West Nyack has led to eight arrests, according to Clarkstown police.

The DWI checkpoint was set up from Saturday evening into Sunday morning by Clarkstown Police and the Rockland County Sheriff's Department at Route 59 and Crossfield Avenue.

The checkpoint was partially funded by the Rockland County STOP-DWI office.

Arrested at the checkpoint were:

Juan Hernandez, 34, of Lodi, N.J., accused of drunken driving, a misdemeanor

Vincent Speranza, 24, of Piermont, accused of drunken driving, a misdemeanor

Jose Bruno, 31, of Bergenfield N.J., accused of drunken driving, a misdemeanor

Jose Dipan, 44, of Paterson, N.J., accused of drunken driving, a misdemeano

Christopher Dilorenzo, 47, of West Nyack, accused of drunken driving, a misdemeanor

Chris Nordstrom, 22, of West Nyack, accused of drunken driving, a misdemeanor

Venel Edouard, 38, of Spring Valley, accused of drunken driving, a misdemeanor

Scott Hlubik, 26, of New City, accused of drunken driving, a misdemeanor

All eight will have to appear in Clarkstown Town Court in New City to answer the DWI charges.
