The Rockland 911 Dispatchers Association today recognizes its "Dispatcher of the Year" Peter F. Medina of the Ramapo Police Department at an awards dinner at the Leo Ladders American Legion Post in Thiells.
Medina is praised for providing pre-arrival CPR instructions to the mother of an infant found face down and not breathing in a 5 gallon bucket of water in Chestnut Ridge earlier this year. The child was breathing when emergency medical units arrived on scene and is on the road to a full recovery.
The other nominees for this award were: Teresa Hamilton of the Haverstraw Police Department, Evan Humphrey of the Rockland Sheriff's Communications, Joe Delucia of the Rockland Sheriff's Communications, Sandra Bertolacci of the Rockland Sheriff's Communications, Rich Cummings of the Clarkstown Police Department and Margaret Walter of the Orangetown Police Department.
The group today also award its annual scholarship to Joseph Maschak of Garnerville.
