Big Brothers Big Sisters Selected For Pan Hellenic Council of Rockland County Award

The Pan Hellenic Council of Rockland County committee is honoring Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County on Saturday, September 29th for its Prevention Education for Delinquent Youth Program.

“We feel very fortunate to have been selected to be a 2012 honoree,”  states Big Brothers Big Sisters, CEO Gillian Ballard. “Through the generosity of the Pan Hellenic Council’s acknowledgement of our services, we are inspired to go forward in this troubling economy, buoyed by the encouragement that our programs are a valuable resource to the community."

Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in Rockland and the leader in one-to-one youth mentoring service for more than 28 years, developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people ages 7 to 18 throughout all of Rockland’s communities.

The Prevention Efforts for Delinquent Youth serves a dual purpose. One is to provide a positive mentoring relationship between youths from 16 to 25 years of age involved in the judicial system and qualified adult mentors. The other is to provide an opportunity for youth re-entering society after having served a prison sentence as an alternative approach to recidivism.
