Budget Approval Adds To Fun Of Fundraising River Cruise
75 people join in Clarkstown Education Foundation trip on Commander.
The Clarkstown Education Foundation's sunset cruise up the Hudson on the Historic Commander Saturday night became a celebration of last week's overwhelming passage of the Clarkstown school budget by local voters.
The trip was a really beautiful evening – sunny and warm and the river was just magnificent, according to foundation trustee Rhea Vogel. The Commander departed the Haverstraw Marina at 6 p.m. and traveled up the Hudson just past West Point and then returned at about 9 p.m.
The ship's captain was none other than Clarkstown School Board Member Joe Malgieri.

Everyone was in a terrific upbeat mood celebrating last week's overwhelming budget victory, re-election of Diane Hoeneveld and the election of newcomer to Robert Carlcucci to the Clarkstown Board of Education, Vogel said. The Clarkstown Education Foundation Board trustees attending the event were President Mike Aglialoro, Vice President Dorie McMaster, Treasurer Betty Kaplan, Secretary Meg Keller-Cogan and trustees Steve Klein, Barry Robins, Vogel and Diane Hoeneveld.
Vogel said the event was a success with about 75 supporters attending. Also on board enjoying this splendid cruise up the Hudson were Board Member elect Robert Carlucci and his wife Patty and Clarkstown Councilwoman Shirley Lasker and her husband Steve Fox.

All funds raised from ticket sales for the event will go to support the various programs and initiatives of the Foundation, Vogel said. The Foundation seeks to establish, support and enhance educational innovation and opportunity for students and teachers in Clarkstown by focusing on purchasing technology for classrooms, providing grants to teachers for classroom enhancements or professional development and awarding scholarships to graduating seniors.
The next Foundation event is the First Annual Golf Outing on June 30 at Dellwood Country Club in New City.
