[UPDATE] West Nyack Car/Bus Accident Injures Six

Accident on West Nyack Road at Parkway Drive left five bus passengers and driver of the car injured.

 

At 8:30 this morning a Rockland TOR bus and a passenger car collided on West Nyack Road. The accident at Parkway Drive injured five passengers on the bus and the driver of a 2008 Saturn.

Clarkstown Police Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni reported the driver of the Saturn suffered minor back injuries and was taken to the hospital. Five passengers on the TOR bus sustained minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital. The Rockland Tor Bus, which was carrying 12 passengers, was heading east on West Nyack Road when a 2008 Saturn attempted to make a left turn from Parkway Drive and the vehicles crashed.

The West Nyack Fire Department responded to the scene to clean a small amount of gasoline from the roadway.  Cleanup of debris from the accident was continuing after 10 a.m. Thursday and the westbound lane of West Nyack Road was still closed between Memorial Park Drive and West Nyack Road.

Fratianni said there were no summonses issued or arrests made. The injured were taken to Nyack Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital.
