Clarkstown OKs using Federal Funds to Restore Jobs of 3 Teachers, 11 Aides
School board approves using $394,000 of $1.4 million in new federal aid coming to Clarkstown.

The Clarkstown school board this evening decided to restore three full-time teaching positions and 11 teaching assistants who were eliminated in the 2010-2011 budget by using part of the new $1.4 million the district is receiving in federal aid.
The board voted 5-0 to approve a recommendation from schools Superintendent Margaret Keller-Cogan to use $394,000 from the new federal aid to restored the jobs. The board is planning on saving the remaining funds to help the district with its 2011-2012 budget, in which the district is expecting to lose $5 million from federal economic stimulus programs that are coming to an end.
Clarkstown learned of the new federal funding last week.
