STONY POINT, NY — Without community leaders, Rockland County wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

This submission comes from Desiree Leone-Stoll, a Rockland County reader who nominated her son Hunter.

What does this community leader do?

Hunter is a 15 year old sophomore who is involved in many activities and groups that make our community and his school a better place. He is the Captain of the Stony Point Ambulance Corps Youth Squad. He currently rides as a trainee when he can. He is a member of his high school Voice Club which is a club that looks at diversity and inclusion. He just recently joined Best Buddies and student government. He plays varsity golf and hockey. He is a Be String student state representative, which is an anti-bullying organization. He is often squeezing in volunteering for EMS courses, Stony Point Police Athletic League events, etc. He recently completed the North Rockland youth police academy.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

Hunter finds more joy in life bringing smiles and joy to others. When most kids his age are hanging out at the mall or riding bikes, he is often found riding on the ambulance or training.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Hunter although only 15 has made an impact on the lives of so many already. He has left his mark on our community and continues to find ways and time to get involved with clubs and groups that directly have an impact on the lives of others.
