A Spring Valley woman is accused of using her 14-year-old brother and a baby carriage holding her 1-year-old daughter in an effort to steal $1,800 worth of merchandise from Macy's in West Nyack, according to Clarkstown police.
Police said the loss prevention staff at Macy's at Palisades Center Mall called police about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with a complaint about two shoplifters. Police said Blanca Castillo-Hugo, 25, of Spring Valley, and her brother were seen putting merchandise in the baby carriage and then attempted to leave the store without paying.
Castillo-Hugo's daughter was in the baby carriage at the time, police said. Castillo-Hugo and her brother and the baby were taken to police headquarters in New City, where police said the baby was turned over to a family membrer.
