FEMA Community Response Team In Piermont

Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef announced on Tuesday that Rockland emergency officials met with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) representatives to coordinate assistance plans for residents. A Community Response Team (CRT) is in Piermont today explaining the aid application process to residents and business owners. The team will go to Stony Point and other hard hit parts of the county.

Piermont Police are reminding residents to verify the identification of any workers who come to their homes. With any questions, call (845) 359-0240. There will be an informational meeting with FEMA 7 p.m. Thursday at the Peirmont Village Hall. 

Preparation is also underway for the opening of the Rockland County FEMA Assistance Center, which will be located at Provident Bank Park, 1 Provident Bank Park Drive, Pomona. No opening date has been set.

Rockland is included in FEMA'S Major Disaster declaration, which makes federal funding available to individuals affected by Hurricane Sandy. The aid ranges from grants for temporary housing and home repairs to low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses. More services are available to  help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
