Councilman George Hoehmann said the File of Life is a program that can help save residents' lives.

“It is important for emergency service volunteers to have quick access to a resident’s health history about medical problems, allergies, medications, as well as have emergency contacts handy," said Hoehmann.  "This simple tool provides for that security for our residents.”

Residents will be responsible for keeping the medical information on the card up to date. File of Life cards were first introduced in Clarkstown in 2010 and were desgined to be kept on refrigerators to quickly provide medical information to emergency personnel. The not for profit group, File of Life Foundation, developed the card.
