Florida Driver Stopped In New City Had 9MM, No NY Permit
A patrol officer observed a driver fail to stop at a red light on North Main Street
NEW CITY, NY — A Florida man faces weapons charges in Clarkstown after a traffic stop in New City Friday.
At 1:30 a.m., a patrol officer observed a motor vehicle fail to stop at a red light as it was traveling on North Main Street in New City. The officer conducted a traffic stop and approached the driver. After a brief investigation, he was asked to exit his vehicle to ensure the safety of everyone at that location. Officers asked him if he had any weapons in the vehicle, to which he replied he had a gun.
Upon further investigation, officers recovered a Colt 9mm semiautomatic from the center console and two loaded magazines in a bag found on the passenger's seat. He did not have a permit to carry in New York.

Javier A. Ordonez, 38, of Hollywood, FL. was placed under arrest and charged with: Criminal Possession Firearm 2nd (C Felony), Criminal Possession Firearm (E Felony) and several vehicle and traffic law infractions.
Ordonez was arraigned in Clarkstown Court by the Honorable Michael Bongiorno. Bail was set for $10,000 cash, $25,000 bond.

It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
