Identity Theft: Man Guilty of Using Neighbor's Name to Get Credit Cards

Personal papers were taken from neighbor's trash.

A Spring Valley man has pleaded guilty to stealing the identity of a neighbor and applying for credit cards in his neighbor's name.

Joey Page, 55, of 164 E. Eckerson Road, Spring Valley, pled guilty in Rockland County Court in New City to falsifying business records in the first Degree.

District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe that between April 30, 2009, and May 30, 2009, Page applied for Discover and Capital One credit cards using the personal identification information of another person. Page and victim were neighbors in a special housing unit for the physically handicapped and Page stole the victim's personal information from garbage, Zugibe said.

The United States Postal Inspector's office and the Rockland County Special Investigations Unit conducted the investigation. 

Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 22, 2010 County Court Judge Charles Apotheker at the Rockland County Courthouse in New City.
