Inclement Winter Weather Headed This Way
Mix of rain, snow and sleet expected Wednesday into Thursday

The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Rockland County for Wednesday afternoon into Thursday. The NWS forecasts a Nor’easter could impact the area and bring strong winds, coastal flooding and possibly heavy precipitation. It is part of a strong storm system that is moving up from the south.
The wintry mix is expected to start after 1 p.m. today with rain and snow and wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour (mph). Be prepared for slow driving on the evening commute. The precipitation could change over to snow and sleet as temperatures drop below freezing during the nighttime hours. Accumulations of two to four inches are possible along with stronger wind gusts reaching 44 mph. The snow could be heavy at times. The storm may switch to a combination of sleet and rain before leaving the area Thursday afternoon.
