Library Board Shuffles Meeting Date

The New City Library Board will hold a special meeting Tuesday night

Four New City Library Board of Trustees petitioned last week calling for a special meeting this Wednesday.  Board President Tom Ninan denied their request because a quorum of members was not available for Tuesday and scheduled the special meeting for tonight at 7 p.m. instead.

The meeting location is not set and may take place in the outdoor Children’s Garden or employee break room.  As of late Monday evening, the meeting was not listed on the library’s web site.

The agenda for the special meeting includes all of the issues listed in the original request by Trustees Victor Berger, Ed Kallen, Jeff Greenberg and George Jacobson plus one more.  The additional topic calls for discussion about hiring an interim library director and bookkeeper.   The other agenda items are the process for hiring a new library director to fill the year-old vacancy, review the boiler repair work and added costs, possible approval of the agreement between the library and the library staff association and discuss the architect’s work on the redesign of the audio-video section.

The board’s last scheduled monthly meeting of April 18th was cancelled and its next meeting is set for Thursday, May 16th.
