Love is on the Agenda for Valentine's Day at Clarkstown Town Hall

Clarkstown Town Hall is going to be a busy place this Valentine’s Day.
Love is on the agenda, at least for Town Clerk Justin Sweet. He is scheduled to perform six civil wedding ceremonies today at Town Hall, 10 Maple Ave., New City.
“Valentine’s Day is our annual celebration of love and affection,” said Sweet. “It’s a great day for two people to pronounce their love and commitment to each other.”

In addition to performing marriage ceremonies, the Town Clerk’s Office issues marriage licenses, birth and death certificates, handicapped parking permits, dog licenses among other services. Sweet is the town’s official “marriage officer.”
“It is an honor for me to officiate over a couple’s marriage ceremony,” Sweet said. “My wish for all of them is a happy and prosperous life together.”

The Town Clerk’s Office is also the official record keeper for the Town of Clarkstown and processes requests for information under state freedom of information laws.
