It is a Jawonio tradition to invite a community leader or elected official to administer the oath at its installation meetings. As Mascola took office, Murphy noted that he was one of the first members of the Rockland Legislature with Mascola’s father, Francis X. Mascola.

Murphy also administered the oath of office to board members who were reinstated for 3 year terms including: Dr. Ellis Barowsky, Estelle Brill, Marilyn Troy, Joe Sagaria and Tom Mascola for his 3 year term. William Longhi also continues for a three-year term but was not at the ceremony.
