Masons, Jawonio Team Up to Protect Kids

Child Safety ID program helps prepare families for emergencies.

As part of their ongoing community service and outreach programs, local Masons are planning a large Child Safety ID event at Jawonio on Thursday July 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Children will be electronically fingerprinted and photographed and vital statistics recorded on a computer disk provided to the parent or guardian to facilitate recovery via the national Amber Alert program in the event the child goes missing. Children from Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Rockland will also be participating.

The public is also invited to avail their families of this program but advance registration is requested.

The Brothers of Athelstane Lodge of Pearl River are coordinating this event together with other Masonic Lodges in Orange, Rockland, Westchester and Putnam. They conduct numerous Child ID programs throughout the region each year in support of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Amber Alert Program.  The Masonic Safety ID program is available to the public without charge.  It is anticipated that some 150 children and young adults will participate in this ID session.

This event will be held at JAWONIO in the Jawonio Early Childhood Education Center, 155 Phillips Hill Road.
