Maxwell Anderson's 'High Tor' Comes to High Tor this Weekend

West Branch Conservation Association sponsors free production of prize-winning play.

The West Branch Conservation Association is hosting a free production of "High Tor," Maxwell Anderson's prize-winning play, to presented on High Tor in New City this weekend.

The mountain was in danger of being mined like the quarry next door. In the play, the quarry owners win.  In real life, High Tor Mountain became a state park, thanks to local conservationists.

"High Tor" was named the best American play of the 1936-1937 season. In this staged reading production, you'll hear the songs that Maxwell Anderson and Arthur Schwartz wrote for a 1956 television version.
