NY State Police: Rockland Man Caused Thruway Crash That Injured 2
Police said he apparently rear-ended a certified escort vehicle behind a disabled tractor-trailer with an oversized load.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A Monsey man rear-ended an SUV escorting an oversized tractor-trailer in Greene County on Wednesday, causing a three-vehicle pile up and seriously injuring two people, New York State police said.
Police said that according to their preliminary investigation, an oversized flatbed tractor trailer hauling 197,000 pounds of crane equipment south on the New York State Thruway had become disabled partially in the right lane at mile marker 128.0, between exits 21B and 21A.
The driver of a certified escort vehicle traveling with the tractor trailer positioned his SUV behind the flatbed with lights activated to warn approaching traffic of the hazard, police said.
