Clarkstown Police arrested Bianca Salai, 26, of Nanuet after she allegedly left the scene of an accident that seriously injured a motorcycle driver on Friday night. The accident reportedly occurred when Salai did not yield right of way to the motorcyclist near the intersection of Dustman Lane and Route 304 in Bardonia around 9:30 p.m. The motorcyclist sustained a severe, but not life threatening injury and was taken to Nyack Hospital.
Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni said, “After the collision, witnesses observed Salai exit her vehicle and run into a neighboring establishment and out the rear door where she was located by officers in the rear parking lot of 140 Route 304, Bardonia.”
Fratianni said Salai was given field sobriety tests, which she failed and she later refused to take a breathalyzer test. Salai has been charged with vehicular assault 2nd degree, felony, leaving the scene of a serious physical injury accident, a felony and driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Salai was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court with bail set at $1,000 and is scheduled to return to court on July 31.
